Nowt planned this weekend? Have a gander at what we got for yer...

Patti Cake$ Opening Night Party

Start your weekend off with a bang and head down to Broadway for the new film release; Patti Cake$. It’s rather fitting if you ask us, cos the film is all about an aspiring young female rapper from New Jersey and her rise to glory and there’ll be an all female line up ranging from DJs to singers to keep you energised way past your bedtime. But hey ho, it’s the weekend now, so who cares? Join some of Notts’ most bad ass females, Alice Short, ElJay, Veronica Caine and DJ Ms Tempz, for a night of forward thinking and hard hitting lyrics and beats.
Friday 1 September, 7.30pm, free, cinema tickets sold separately, Broadway Cinema, event link

DJ Dibz and Friends

Good ol’ Hoodtown just keeps on giving these days and this event is no exception. Three of bassline’s most proficient DJ’s and producers, and also Midlands natives DJ Dibz, DJ EJ and Mr Virgo, will be gracing the stage at the Irish Centre this Friday night in a bass-driven frenzy. They are, in their own right, some of the few original pioneers left still pushing the ever-growing bassline and UKG scene, and they never ever disappoint. They’ll be joined by local selectors, Poach and DJ Rudes who’ll be warming up for the madness that's about to pop off. Grab a JD and coke, whack them shades on and shake yer bumper an’ dat.
Friday 1 September, 10pm, £10-15, The I Club, event link

Vegan Market

Sneinton market is fast becoming the hub of all things culture. As vegetables and meat substitutes get ever so popular, you’ll be spoiled for vegan choices at this week's market. With established and upcoming vegan-based companies from around the Midlands and beyond, prepare to be taken aback by the sheer variety of what's on offer. It ain't all just tofu and soya milk round here, me duckies. Wrap yer gobs around some vegan cocoa cheesecakes or try out some Mexican bbq jackfruit. Seriously, the yamming possibilities are endless.

If you get down early, you’ll bag yourself a free goody bag full of bits and bobs that are a blast from the past. Everyone used to love a temporary tattoo and a friendship bracelet, right? It’s free entry all night so that means more pennies to spend on yer bottles of hooch ain't it? Dust of those buffalos and get your girl power, on cos we’re taking it way back this weekend.
