There are over forty Oxjam Festivals held at towns and cities across the UK, all raising money for Oxfam. Beeston’s festival is consistently one of the biggest. This year they have broken their own record set in 2015 by raising a whopping £22,000 for the international charity.

Festival Director, Colin Tucker: “We have a brilliant organising team behind the scenes, all of whom are volunteers, with fantastic support from local venues, sponsors and local music fans.”

Heather Greenan, who organised the festival’s largest event, the Takeover, added: “This is a real community event and this year everything came together - huge numbers attended the all-day festival to see hundreds of talented artists - helping us raise such an amazing amount!”

As well as Takeover the Festival included Unplugged, Rock Night, Operatic Arias, Classical Oxjam and The Oxjam Ceilidh.

The Team estimate that well over three thousand people attended their events, with about 130 individual artists, groups or ensembles (all playing for free), with 20 stages on Takeover day across 18 venues.

Tim Hunter, Oxfam GB Fundraising Director: “Oxjam Beeston has been one of our flagship, volunteer-led Oxjam music festivals for some years now, and this year’s achievement of raising over £22,000 for Oxfam (their record total to date) is nothing short of inspiring. The team know their local music scene inside out, and their fundraising efforts have been incredible. The money raised from Oxjam Beeston will make a huge difference to those living in extreme poverty, and proves that local music really can have a global impact.”
