The refugee crisis is nothing short of abominable. Millions of people from Syria and the rest of the Middle East have been displaced in what is one of the worst humanitarian emergencies of our time. You wouldn’t wish the conditions that some people are living in on your worst enemy. Making efforts to restore some dignity to those she can is one Nottingham woman, Caroline Kerr.

After learning about the lack of clean underwear available in refugee camps, Caroline started up the Facebook group Bras Not Bombs that appeals for decent bras and knickers to send to women and girls in the thick of it. After gaining support from all over the world, making trips to the camps, and running a successful event at Rough Trade in December, Caroline is still accepting donations for the cause. Check out the Facebook group to see how you can help.

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
