Get geared up for 2018, when we'll be seeing all kinds of mysterious, hooded creatures knocking about...

Robin Hood isn’t taking from the rich and giving to the poor anymore, but it definitely sounds like he’ll be giving a whole lot back to everyone in Nottingham pretty soon. The city is always buzzing with bags of culture and traditional stories; the cunning Mr. Hood being a massive part of that.

Now, you’re going to be holding tight for the summer of 2018 when you’ll see the pesky hoodwinker himself around the city, because Wild in Art are going to be dotting a load of Robin Hood sculptures throughout the city; it’ll be up to you to do a cheeky bit of spying about the place yourself to try and find every one.

Wild in Art have teamed up with Nottingham City Council to throw together this take on the traditional story, and they’re pretty clued up when it comes to showing off fantastic public art for all kinds of people to get stuck into; they’ve done this kinda thing all over the world.

It’s summat for everyone to get involved with, and they’re looking to get a load of cool organisations and artists on board too. The cause is a good one n’all; the classic tale’s trail will be raising funds for the Nottinghamshire Hospice.

The organisers are trying to get local businesses in the mix, with the chance to sponsor their own sculpture designed by an artist; all that exploring of the trail will surely call for some retail therapy or a much needed bit of nosh along the way.

This is really about taking something from the real heart of Nottingham’s traditional culture and spreading it back about all over the city, and is an event everyone will be able to get cracking with. Robin might even be able to show us around the corners and gems of the city we forgot even existed.

If you’d like more information about how to get involved with the project, you can email [email protected] or call 0115 876 4984/5

We have a favour to ask

LeftLion is Nottingham’s meeting point for information about what’s going on in our city, from the established organisations to the grassroots. We want to keep what we do free to all to access, but increasingly we are relying on revenue from our readers to continue. Can you spare a few quid each month to support us?
