Whichcraft Beer Festival

The city has been absolutely bleddy bursting with pints and halves of the hoppy variety for almost an entire week now. And the fun isn’t about to stop. Head on over to the Trent Navigation this weekend for their contribution to Craft Beer Week, and tuck into craft beer, courtesy of Navigation, Castle Rock and Magpie breweries; music from I’m Not From London; and comedy from the likes of Jon Pearson and Jared Shooter, courtesy of NCF Comedy. There’s also gonna be street food available, so you’ll be able to soak up the alcohol with some top notch scran, and if beer isn’t your thing, you can bag yersen a cocktail from Shake the Spirit. And when you’re bored of sitting and sipping, have a nosy around the craft stalls. They’ve literally thought of everything.

Thinkover Launch Party

The company that pride themselves on creating wearable art, otherwise known as “extraordinary clothes for unique people”, are opening a shiny new shop, this weekend. Thinkover create beautiful, handpainted garments for the most discerning of Nottingham’s fashionistas, and they’re proud to open the very first Atelier & Shop right here in Hoodtown. To celebrate, they’re throwing a bit of a bash in your honour. Get down to the second floor of PSpowage Art Gallery from 7pm to hear Jasmin Isaaka’s acoustic set, and if you feel like a bit of a music maestro yourself, bring a couple of vinyls along to play for the crowds. If you’re already a part of Thinkover, wear your tshirt and bring a mate and you’ll both get 20% off. Sorted.

Jimi Mack EP Launch

Our hearts, souls and ear drums dance with pride and joy whenever a new talent emerges from the local scene. This week, it’s the turn of that there Jimi Mack. He’s bringing his own special brand of progressive jazz-folk to Rough Trade in honour of his fresh EP. And he’ll be performing with a full band, too, so expect some truly wholesome sounds. The evening promises to be a right celebration of some of the best in Nottingham’s music scene, with the glorious talent that is Felix M-B supporting. According to the event page, one can “expect guest musicians, drunken ramblings...tears of joy and song dedications to whoever gets me [Jimi] after three pints”. So buy a round in for that there Mr Mack and pick a tune.

Sisters of Street

We’re biggin’ up the galdem good and proper with this one. Surface Gallery’s annual Street Art Festival is branching out to Broad Street in an all-out celebration of Nottingham women’s contribution to street art, and we’re dead excited about it. The Broadway Cinema terrace is to be taken over by female artists, including Elsa, Emily Catherine, Dala, Jasmine Issaka and Honey Williams, as they paint, spray and gloss their way to a final masterpiece. The day promises to see women of all different talents collaborating to create an afternoon of wickedness. The likes of Stiff Kittens and Fanclub are set to DJ; NYX Cosmetics are gonna give you all a makeover; and our very own Bridie Squires is gonna deliver another fire spoken word poetry set. Sisters are doing it for ‘emselves, as the saying goes...

Millions of Voices: The Improvised Star Wars Show

The planet Alderaan is a peaceful place to be. In fact, it’s so peaceful that planets all over the galaxy understand it to be a place of “unspoiled beauty and refined culture”. Which is all well and good for its inhabitants, one of which is Princess Leia. However, trouble looms on the horizon, as the residents of Alderaan are unaware that Grand Moff Tarkin is planning to test his Death Star on the planet. Dun dun duuun! Now in their nineteenth year of making stuff up on the spot, MissImp are the East Midlands improv group that are bringing you their entirely improvised show, packed with songs and choreography made up there and then as you, the audience, decide what happens next. Sounds like chaos may ensue, but what’s life if you don’t live it on the edge of the universe?
