In a world where Greggs rules, and people buy canvasses from Wilko’s, it’s a merry bleddy welcome sight when we see a shop opened up that’s stocked by up-and-coming creatives.

That’s right; we’ve got a brand-spanking new shop down Hockley ends, and it’s got everything from clothes, to accessories, to birthday cards, and even handmade guitars made from vintage cigar boxes and biscuit tins.

Kathy Steadman, ncn fashion lecturer, was the brains behind the shop. She said: “I see so much talent working at the college and I wanted to give my students and colleagues the opportunity to showcase this to the public. It’s great experience and fantastic exposure for the amazing work they produce both at college and in their free time. I’m excited to see how the shop evolves.”

Bang on Kathy, bang on.

Our Lord Mayor was chuffed at the whole concept n’all: “Design was my favourite O-Level subject at school so this brought back some fantastic memories for me. My visit was topped off with a delicious meal in the ncn Adams Restaurant.”

A grand owd day all round, then.
