How would you describe your music?
It’s definitely different and often story driven. Sound wise, I try to bend genres and stay ambitious. Lyric wise, I normally use real life experiences and make them sound interesting.

What was your reaction to the news you’d be playing the FSN final?
I was really excited. I was even more surprised that I came top out of sixty people for the industry judges panel. That's so crazy.

What can the Rock City crowd expect from your performance?
Lots of energy. I want to see everyone moving and enjoying themselves.

Why did you enter FSN?
I go to Rock City frequently, and thought it would be fun to see myself on the stage. Also, I believe I have a chance of winning.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
JME, Childish Gambino, Tyler The Creator, Kendrick Lamar and Eminem. I’ve been trying to incorporate more of Hanz Zimmer's stuff into my work recently. His music is amazing.

What Nottingham artists are you loving at the minute?
Eva Plays Dead are loud and cool. I still need to finish listening to Sleaford Mods English Tapas but I love the vibe they have going on.

Who are your biggest non-musical influences?
Chris Rock and Spiderman.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
Being played on the BBC Introducing evening show was pretty cool; a lot of my friends and my family tuned into that one.

Any last words for LeftLion?
Yeah, come and scream for me on Sunday. I want to scream the lyrics for Year 3000 in Busted’s face. Also thanks if you’ve been supporting me up until now. I love you.

The Future Sound of Nottingham final takes place at Rock City, Sunday 7 May, free.
