A showcase for Nottingham independent record labels and also an opportunity for music lovers to buy directly from them and discover loads of great new music, the Nottingham Label Market returns for its second event following last year's success.

The market will see some of the best labels from the city, along with a couple of guest contributors, all selling their music under one roof. There will also be live music throughout the day.

The record labels taking part include Gringo Records, Hello Thor, Gangsta Wraps, I'm Not From London and I Own You amongst many others, while the record shops Forever Records and Plates will also be setting up store under the Malt Cross roof for the day.

Rich from I Own You and one of the market organisers: "When putting together 2017’s event, I had no idea what the uptake would be, or whether anyone would be interested in getting involved. Last year had such a great atmosphere. I learnt more about local music within the space of 5-6 hours than perhaps 5-6 years. It’s very easy to see Nottingham as a small city with a limited scope for independent music, but last year was a needed reminder that the boundaries of the music community is constantly expanding. Looking towards the future, we would love to see these events continue to grow.

"The music industry in 2018 is a mean, vicious beast and it’s events like Nottingham Label Market that promote the community element involving like-minded and wonderful folk. It’s a great reminder as to why we put ourselves through so much in order to release these records, while also meeting new audiences and sharing recommendations, experiences and advice.

"We are very grateful to The Malt Cross for hosting this year. They are allowing us to take over the ground floor and mezzanine levels while also utilising the venue stage that is the  key feature of such a prestigious and beautiful Victorian Music Hall. The involvement of Plates Records (based in the basement of Malt Cross) essentially means we have three floors of music on offer."

Live music will come from 8mm Orchestra, Daphnellc, Dog Explosion, Flourishes and a DJ set from Primary Colours.

Aside from the records and live music visitors can also epect event only offers and special discounts.

Further information can be found on the Nottingham Label Market Facebook page as well as the Facebook event for Nottingham Label Market #2.

Nottingham Label Market #2 takes place at The Malt Cross on Saturday 10 March 2018.
