There’s something comforting about the ‘Saturday night in’ routine, knowing that your favourite takeaway of choice is en route and ready to accompany an evening of watching family-friendly shows on the box. One of these firm favourites is the X Factor - now in its 16th series - never failing to pull on the nation’s heartstrings as we watch our favourite contestants' route to the top.

But if cries of “I can sing better than them” sound familiar to you, now could be your chance to join the next set of soon-to-be familiar faces as the X Factor 2019 open auditions come to Nottingham this February.

If you need convincing on why you should audition, a spokesperson for the show summed it up well: "Artists discovered by The X Factor UK have sold more than 500 million records worldwide making it the most successful show in history for finding chart superstars.

"Winners include Little Mix, the first girl group to win the competition, who have sold more than 45 million records worldwide. The group’s triple-platinum selling album Glory Days spent five weeks at No.1 in the UK, the most for a girl group since the Spice Girls in 1997.

"James Arthur’s No.1 single Say You Won’t Let Go has gone multi-platinum in both the US and UK, selling more than 11m units worldwide to date. And not forgetting the biggest pop group in the world, One Direction, who have sold more than 150 million records worldwide and won seven BRIT awards."

If you think you’ve got what it takes to wow Simon Cowell and his celebrity mates, read on for how to apply.
