The charity Framework has announced that they will receive a major new grant from the National Lottery Community Fund which will enable them to deliver a program considered unique within the region.

The organisation which provides housing, health, employment and support services to people in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and beyond, will use the money over the next three years to deliver an innovative learning curriculum which focuses on empowering people to live independently and enabling them to reconnect with their communities.

Available to all service users, the Homeless to Home syllabus will offer a blend of classroom and practical learning, with much of it taking place at a special purpose built flat constructed inside Framework’s Training Centre building in Bulwell. It aims to offer engaging learning methods with a service unlike anything individuals would have previously accessed.

Operations Manager for Employment and Skills, Richard Oskwarek explained, “Homeless to Home will create unique learning opportunities for homeless and vulnerable people across the region. Through consultation with beneficiaries and local research, it is clear that this project will fill a gap in provision and matters to the people it will support.”

It is hoped that the project will help to break the cycle of repeat homlessness or even eliminate the risk altogether for some, by giving people the life skills that they need to obtain independent tenancies; It will also build confidence so that they can move into and run their own household and progress to further learning, volunteering or employment.

The Largest community funder in the UK, The National Lottery Community Fund are passionate about funding great ideas that matter to communities and make a difference to people’s lives. With funding is open to everyone, they have awarded a mammoth 200,000 grants since 2004.
