Structure a Basic Plot in 30 Minutes

What? We’ve all said over a drunken pint that we could be the next J.K. Rowling, easy as pie, then woken up the next day with a hangover and incoherent notes. But if you quite seriously actually fancy penning your own story, this course is for you. Children’s writer Gareth Baker will guide you through crafting your own story skeleton, helping you understand why structure is important, as well as the opportunity to craft your own with guidance and support from Gareth. Whether you want to write the next War and Peace or just a small novella, you’re sure to get on the right track after this 2-hour workshop.

CommuniTEA Knit Event

What? Pack yer needles, yarn, and wooly bits for this tea-rific event, which is being put on in partnership with Time to Talk Befriending. You’ll be able to either knit or crochet granny pouches that you can pop tea bags in provided by Bird and Blend Co. They’ll be steamy cuppas on arrival and even a norty 10% discount if you decide you want to snaffle some tea to have at home. When we spoke to co-founder Krisi Smith - who started the company in Nuthall - she described Bird and Blend as ‘a young, caring and exciting Tea Mixology company that mix up the most creative and flavourful tea blends.’ Fabulous.

What? Learn how to make your own razzle-dazzle pieces of art that you can stick on yer wall and be proper proud of. You’ll gain all the knowledge on various printing techniques, such as pattern design, paper mache and pencil transfer. Not only this but you’ll have access to a host of interesting materials like linocut stamps and heritage reprints that will help bring your masterpiece to life. Do Nothing

What? Don’t panic - we ain’t tellin’ you to take the night off with your tootsies tucked in and Netflix switched on. Do Nothing are a Notts band, and trust us, they’re getting mega mega at the moment. They’re embarking on a UK tour, and after their previous sold out show at The Bodega, they’re upsizing to Rescue Rooms. They’ll be playing a roster of bangers, including their newest single Gangs. Of the song, the band’s frontman Chris Bailey told us: “It was written to be a good live song. Often when I write, I think about the part that song will play in the wider set.” Deffo worth getting down to see ‘em.
