These Independent Nottingham Restaurants Are Taking Part in the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme

28 July 20 words: Eve Smallman

Walking through the streets of Nottingham, it’s lovely to see many of our beloved independents setting up shop again. But for them to stay open we need to support them. Aka we need to eat discounted food, as part of the government’s Eat Out to Help Out scheme. No problem.

There are over 100 different restaurants, cafes and pubs taking part in it in the city, so you’re absolutely spoilt for choice. This is the breakdown of what you need to know about the scheme:

  • You’ll get 50% off your food and non-alcoholic drinks up to a total value of £10 per person if you eat or drink in
  • This runs Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 3 August and 31 August
  • You can do it as many times as you like
  • You won’t need vouchers,  and there is no minimum spend
  • Alcoholic drinks and service charges are excluded from the offer

Now we've got the pesky rules out the way, here are some of our favourite Notts establishments that are taking part in it…

200 Degrees - One of the best coffee producers in Notts, their cosy interiors in their city centre cafes are perfect for chilled-out catch-ups

31K / Yolk - Nestled in Hockley, their pick a mix menus of breakfast, lunch and dinner make for a fun and tasty experience

Annie’s Burger Shack - Hunking portions of burgers, fries and sides, with meat, veggie and vegan options to boot that will leave you filled for days

Bistrot Pierre - If you aren’t holidaying just yet but are dreaming of French ambience, this slice of it in the city centre will sort you out

Blend - Our Sneinton Market neighbours have a breezy, relaxed atmosphere, all the coffee and tea, and deliciously boujee cheese toasties

Cafe Contemporary - Bright, airy and with plenty of seating, their simple and delicious menu washed down with their outstanding hot choc is delightful

Cafe Sobar - Enticing colourful interior and menu filled with classics done well - and all their profits go to charity Double Impact

Cock and Hoop - A Grade II listed pub located in Lace Market, with a variety of traditional and modern dishes to suit whoever you’re dining with

COPPER - Practically built for your Instagram grid, with rose gold touches and beautiful brunches and lunches

Curious Tavern - Situated on the corner of Hockley, it has all your favourite British dishes, sarnies, burgers and nibbly bits

Das Kino - Their pizzas are delightfully adventurous, and are the size that all pizzas should be - make sure to ask after their sauces too

Debbie Bryan - Brilliant for a spot of afternoon tea, a slice of cake and a bit of crafting if you fancy it too

Delilah - For an elevated lunch - quite literally as their restaurant overlooks their deli - they’re wonderful, with exciting combinations and rich flavours

The Dice Cup - It’s all fun and games at this board game cafe, but they don’t mess around when it comes to their all-vegan grub, and they’re home to arguably the best vegan pizza in town

Fox & Grapes - You’ll often find the LeftLion crew here after a long week as Fox & Grapes is round the corner from us and it is always warm and welcoming

Hockley Arts Club - While famous for their cocktails, you may not know they do bang-up afternoon teas and charcuterie boards as well

Hungry Pumpkin - Small and friendly with a knack for freshness, we recommend a portion of their pasta, a cup of coffee, and a spot by the window for people watching

Lost City - Gather all your mates for some crazy golf, then kick back after with some mocktails and ice cream shakes

The Lion at Basford - Not only does it have a beer garden, but it also has an enormous menu of pub tapas, as well as signature sarnies and burgers

Mojo - When it comes to American style proper grub, these guys have the mojo - their hot wings, corn dawgs and pretzel bun burgers will have you going yeehaw

Nonsuch Kitchen - A lovely place for a relaxed bite to eat and drink, as well as plenty of resources to get you feeling creatively inspired

Oscar & Rosie's - Fresh, delicious pizzas with a whacking load of toppings and portion sizes, as well as stunning mac and cheese

Peggy’s Skylight - Known for being our city’s jazz gem, they also do meze that’s packed with authentic flavours

Penny Lane - It’s always in our ears and our hearts, and will transport to the seaside with its arcade games and bright lights

The Pudding Pantry - Indulge yourself in piles of pancakes, scoops of ice cream, and scrumptious cakes that will have you on a sugar high for days

Sexy Mamma Loves Spaghetti - Beautiful Italian food, wonderful for a romantic candlelight dinner with your lover that’s had to put up with you for months or been without you for months

Six Barrel’s Drafthouse Victoria - After a spot of shopping at Viccy C, chomp down on their burgers, loaded fries and slaw

The Southbank Bar - With a buzzing, proper sports pub atmosphere, Southbank is where it’s at for a catch up with your mates over a game of darts and pool

Suede - Another place that knows how to get a pizza your heart, and they also have 2 for 1 on their pizzas on the days the scheme is on - double the pizza for half the price, yes please

U Canteen - The ultimate place in Hockley to get authentic Chinese food, with good prices and portions that will have you asking for a bag to take back with you
