A message from Nottingham City Council to businesses in Nottingham at this time (and a few useful links so you know where to get the latest info from them)...

Nottingham City Council understands the impact of the COVID pandemic is having on our business community and its workforce and will offer support to local businesses, employees and those looking for work to find the right help during a turbulent period for the country.

With advice and support from central Government changing frequently, the council will provide up to date information regularly to ensure the right advice is found first time and through the appropriate channels. Updates will be through our Growing Nottingham social media channels on Twitter and our LinkedIn will be updated regularly throughout the pandemic.

New and current details about changes around business rates, statutory sick pay, support for employees, support for businesses via grants or loans from central Government, help into work and local support available will be accessible from the Coronavirus page on the City Council website. This includes support for businesses, employees, self-employed people and those seeking work via both national and local means.

Councillor Sam Webster, Portfolio Holder for Finance, Growth and the City Centre, said: “The coronavirus pandemic is a major challenge for the country and while the major focus is quite rightly on public health and containing its spread many businesses locally, nationally and internationally are having to focus on how they continue to operate in these unique circumstances.

“The challenges facing businesses are extraordinary and we will support the local economy. We will do all we can with partner agencies and Government to help businesses through this difficult time. We are pledging today to keep businesses regularly updated through our Growing Nottingham channels, through our Coronavirus page on the front page of the City Council website and through support via the D2N2 Growth Hub, where our business support staff will be working hard to get the information, advice and access to funding that you need.

“With daily announcements it can be difficult to keep track, which is why we will keep our information for businesses, the self-employed, benefit claimants and those looking for work up to date as new information emerges.”
