The Carousel is launching an International Womxn’s Day exhibition, created by womxn, about womxn, to celebrate womxn. The project showcases artists from all over the UK and features a print exhibition alongside large scale paintings by Katie Fishlock.

Twenty illustrators from all around the UK have submitted artwork based on womxn that inspire them. The exhibition, curated and led by Zena Kay and Grace Barnes, focuses on showcasing artists and their work, while simultaneously uplifting and recognising inspirational womxn. Made in collaboration with print studio Dizzy Ink and paper makers GF Smith, the exhibition of Risograph prints is The Carousel’s retail spring collection 2021.

Alongside the print exhibition, Bristol-based artist Katie Fishlock is celebrating the pursuits of pleasure and erotica in her first exhibition. Featuring both large-scale vinyl paintings and works on canvas she muses upon the delights of sexual pleasures. Both provocative and playful, she is also challenging the boundaries of portraying sexuality and being a womxn in this often complex world.

The Carousel will also be fundraising for Young Women’s Trust by retailing anthologies of all the artwork with the hope of raising £1000. Artists will have their work exhibited, opening it up to bigger audiences as well as receiving a portion of proceeds from sales. The goal of the project is to spread awareness of impactful womxn and display the remarkable artists behind the exhibition.
