The Arc Cinema will open on Friday 28 May in Beeston town centre, offering a luxury moviegoing experience just a few miles from the city centre.

The state-of-the-art multiplex will include 700 leather reclining seats, laser digital projection and Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound in six of its screens. Another two giant ‘Hypersense’ screens will boast 4k laser projection and Dolby Atmos, promising some properly immersive entertainment.

Audiences will be able to choose from the latest blockbuster and independent films, as well as broadcast screenings of opera, ballet and theatrical productions. The cinema will also provide subtitled showings, kids’ clubs and parent and baby screenings.

A café bar area will offer drinks and snacks, with all screens licensed so visitors can enjoy a beer or glass of wine while watching a film - which could help to calm the nerves when braving A Quiet Place II (or numb the mind to whatever ridiculousness the new Fast & Furious movie comes up with).

Caroline Smith, a local resident and newly appointed manager of The Arc Cinema, said she is excited to welcome movie fans from across the county to the deluxe venue.

“I am really looking forward to lighting up the centre of Beeston with this great new cinema,” she said. “Recent research highlighted that for 59% of the UK population, cinema-going is their most missed out of home entertainment activity so we know people are as keen to see us as we are to see them. All the relevant COVID restrictions will be in place but we are certain that they won’t detract from the overall experience. We can’t wait to open our doors.”

The Arc Cinema is launching a recruitment drive to assemble a 20-strong team of local talent ahead of its grand opening, and has encouraged Notts folk with hospitality experience and a love for all things film to apply.

Those interested in doing so can find more information on Indeed and the cinema’s Facebook page
