Still Life, Nottingham Playhouse's latest digital theatre project, explores some of the untold stories from life under lockdown in Nottingham, boasting some well-known names from the world of British television and cinema. The anthology, which is available to rent now, was created exclusively for the Playhouse, being shot in and around the city.

The impressive cast includes Julie Hesmondhalgh (Coronation Street, Happy Valley, Broadchurch) appearing in Out of Stock, Frances de la Tour (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Rising Damp, Hugo) who appears in Muriel, while Pimp My Ride stars Esh Alladi (The Argument, Theatre Royal Bath, Hobson's Choice, Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester).

The five short films paired writers with members of Nottingham's communities to help them create a piece that sheds light on a previously unexplored story, with the writers including Olu Alakija, Nathan Ellis, Amy Guyler and Emteaz Hussain plus a specially written sketch from Alan Bennett.

Nottingham Playhouse's Artistic Director Adam Penford, who also directed Still Life, said:

“The pandemic has changed the way we live and Still Life will capture this moment in time, revealing some of the lesser-known stories of the people of Nottingham in 2021. It is part of our on-going commitment to nurture the immense talent in the region, and provide some much-needed employment to many who have had little government support since last March. I’m delighted we managed to cast such a talented group of actors, well-known to Playhouse audiences through their local connection and award-winning performances.”

Still Life is available to rent on demand for £10 now until Thursday 24 June
