Black Friday is one of the busiest shopping days of the year and local food gifting business, Treat Kitchen, are planning an alternative event this year which aims to help shoppers make a real difference to their local community. All proceeds taken on Black Friday from both their online and Victoria Centre store will be donated to their charity partner Double Impact to support their incredible work supporting those in recovery from all forms of addiction.

They offer a unique service that deals with all the issues that recovering people face, such as helping them break the vicious cycle of addiction. Double Impact’s aim is to rebuild people’s lives through a collection of services and initiatives. They provide a supportive pathway that connects people with the wider recovery community.

Treat Kitchen opened their outlet store in Victoria Centre earlier this year breathing new life into the former Thorntons shop. Working with local suppliers and showcasing the work of their talented design team the store offers customers eye-catching gifts and treats that taste amazing. As well as a strong connection to local charities, Treat Kitchen are also working towards being a more sustainable company by offsetting their employee’s carbon footprint and planting a tree for every purchase in store and online.

Recovering from dependence on drugs or alcohol is a long-term process and often requires rebuilding a life from scratch

Martin Barnett, Treat Kitchen CEO, said: “We are really thrilled to be supporting Double Impact with our Black Friday initiative. They do amazing work in our local community and have a positive impact on so many lives”.

Treat Kitchen have enjoyed a long-term partnership with Double Impact for several years - they have facilitated sixteen work placements for Double Impact service users at their packing facility and offices in Sneinton, five of which have gone on to become valued members of the Treat Kitchen team.

Double Impact Chief Executive Graham Miller explained: “We are so pleased that Treat Kitchen have chosen Double Impact as the focus of their Black Friday campaign this year as the need for support is greater than ever. With services in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, Lincoln and Lincolnshire, Double Impact supports around 900 people per year. Recovering from dependence on drugs or alcohol is a long-term process and often requires rebuilding a life from scratch.”
