RuPaul’s Drag Race Stars to Visit Nottingham’s Oldest Gay Bar for Special Netflix Event

22 September 21 words: Jamie Morris

Iconic drag queens The Vivienne and Tia Kofi are set to perform at a sold-out show in Nottingham next week.

The hotly-anticipated event will take place at the city’s oldest gay bar, the New Foresters, on Thursday 30 September.

Organised by Netflix, the I Like to Watch tour sees the queens bring their eponymous web series directly to audiences by transforming the venue into a cosy living room setting.

The show will include an interactive screening of the film Eurovision: The Story of Fire Saga, featuring witty live commentary from The Vivienne, Tia Kofi and up-and-coming local drag talent.

“I'm so excited to be taking I Like to Watch on the road” says The Vivienne. “We've all had a shocker over the last year or so, and queens and LGBT+ venues have really struggled.

“I've made a career working in bars all over the UK, so I know how vital they are to our community. We want to give everybody a camp time, but fingers crossed our tour can help local scenes as they start to find their feet again."

The New Foresters is one of six historic venues across the UK to host the tour, and has been providing a safe space for Nottingham’s LGBT+ community since 1938.

“When we got the call, it was unbelievable,” said a spokesperson for the bar. “We didn’t think we’d ever get the likes of Netflix to host an event.

“Just having the names The Vivienne and Tia Kofi here is absolutely amazing, and it reaches out a bit further than our usual clientele.

“We’re all really excited – especially the landlady.”
